José Carlos da Silva Junior was born in 1987, in Lomba do Pinheiro, a suburb of Porto Alegre. He adopted the pseudonym José Falero in honor of his mother, from whom he inherited his artistic streak, but not her surname. He is a writer, and made his literary debut in 2019 with the book of short stories Vila Sapo (Todavia, 2022). He published the novel Os supridores (Todavia, 2020), winner of the Alcides Maia Trophy in the Long Narrative category and the AGES Book of the Year Award, in addition to being a finalist for the Jabuti Award in the Literary Novel category and the São Paulo Literature Award in the Best Debut Novel category. He also published a collection of chronicles Mas em que mundo tu vive? (Todavia, 2021). In 2020, he received the Jacarandá Award for New Author. In 2023, he received the title of Emeritus Citizen of Porto Alegre. In November 2024, Todavia will publish the author’s second novel.
